Dueling Guidelines
There will be NO AUTOING. You
will play it out and give your opponent plenty of time to respond, counter, etc. Auto
kills will not be accepted. Also, if you have not gotten the permission of the
person you are role playing with, you CANNOT kill their character – THIS IS NON NEGOTIABLE. If you violate this and you do not retract it, you may be banned… As with everything
else, it will be reviewed and dealt with on a case by case basis. There will be no banning without warning… and you
will always be given a chance to explain yourself and your case.
You cannot fire of spell after spell after spell in rapid succession within one post. Your character
must cast one spell at a time to give true ample time for your opponent to counter and properly duel. Abuse of the spell
casting ability within this world is not accepted. If we have to we will implement a structured system to deal with
this, please be mature and responsible in dealing with something so serious as in character fighting. Of course all
situations will be looked at on a case by case basis, but remember the goal here is to create a balanced RP environment for
all - do not forget that.
Regarding the Canon Universe
This room is based within the Canon Harry Potter Universe - meaning that it is based within the realm created
by J.K. Rowling. Any specialty characters ie: werewolves, veela, magical creatures, etc... Will have to be applied for
as though applying for a Canon Character. We encourage creativity and you do not need to play one of the characters
in the books to play in this room however please keep in mind that if it wouldn't have happened in the world Rowling created
it will not be happening here unless you have special permission from the Hosts to do so.
Regarding Character Avatars
In the attempt to keep some semblance of order or balance, the number of people that can have the same avatar
will be limited to 4. This is to keep from having too many of the same faces on all of the characters. Also the
pictures of the actors and actresses that represent the characters from the books are RESTRICTED for CANON
USE ONLY! This means that you cannot use Daniel Radcliffe for anyone other than Harry Potter. This is non negotiable...
Canon Characters are the only characters that have this avatar reserve in place... All other avatars are on a first come first
serve basis.
A Note to Those Applying for Canon Characters
We highly encourage you to apply for canon characters, however there are a few things that we will be looking
for.
1. Actual true desire to play the canon.
2. Level of understanding of the canon character that Rowling created.
3. How often you will be available to play the canon.
4. The amount of effort you are willing to put into the Canon
5. Ability to play the Canon AT LEAST once per week. If you can't do this
then don't apply, Canons are the heart and soul of the room and they will be needed frequently. If you can't play frequently
we still encourage you to play original characters.
- this is because we expect our canon characters to uphold a certain standard within the
room, after all, the canon characters are in a certain sense the core of the room. They were created by Rowling
and their integrity should be kept in tact. This is not to say that you cannot be creative with them, but anything that
goes radically against character should be discussed with the appropriate mod or Host...
- If you do not believe that you fit these or you are not willing to put time or
effort into it, then please do not apply for a canon - let it go to someone that really wants to play it.
- Also, if you're decision to apply for a canon character is based upon a desire
to screw over another player in the room you will be denied the character. We are not going to let personal issues reflect
upon our canon characters in this room. All personal issues should remain out of the public and rp forums and be dealt
with in private... please leave such baggage at the door - Thank You.
- In order to keep canons available for those that want to play them, please
do not apply for more than one character in a family - with the exception of Fred and George Weasley. This is to keep
Canons available for people and to promote interaction. It is rather difficult after all to have the necessary interaction
if you're essentially playing with yourself. Also, though it is not entirely necessary, I would like to present this
example for something else that should not be done. If you have Harry Potter, please do not also apply for Draco Malfoy
- there should be dynamic interaction between these characters and it can be exceptionally difficult to go back and forth
between a good character and an evil one. This is not to say that you cannot have more than one Canon character, but
please make your choices wisely, thank you.
